Singing next to just a few handpicked sounds- a simple piano melody, a couple of drums, and a rattling sub bass- he turns Feist's jaunty original into something tense and brooding. The obvious comparison is Jamie Lidell, but Blake is less showy, more inward. "Limit to Your Love" puts Blake's vocals front-and-center, and as it turns out, he's got a really nice voice. Now that we have "Limit to Your Love", Blake's Feist cover and the first taste from his vocal-pop full-length, two of this year's EPs- the warped R&B of CMYK and the tech-y piano-based Klavierwerke- appear to be a natural buildup to this project. And the interesting thing is that his rise doesn't feel like a restless musician on a hot streak- that maybe he'll dump all these great tracks and then peter out. It might be tough: the UK producer is so young, and he's accomplished a lot already. Going to try not to use this space just to talk about how awesome and talented James Blake is.
